I’ve been challenged, and I have accepted.
I’m always on the lookout for new fitness and wellness programs for a couple of different reasons. #1, even though my lifestyle is balanced and I work my tail off to keep healthy and strong, I know there’s always room for improvement. #2, it’s imperative to refresh your routines in and out of the gym to keep both your mind and body on its heels. Staying healthy can get monotonous if you’re not being proactive with trying new things. Despite having over a decade of fitness and nutrition experience in the fitness industry, I still have much to learn. As my body changes and the years tally, I understand that I need to pivot sometimes to keep up.
Muscles and six packs are fun to have but they won’t make you live longer, that’s for sure. And short term it won’t give you more energy, better gut health or general well-being. It takes a sense of maturity to prioritize those types of things and I suppose I’ve caught the bug. So the challenge…implement a healthy, consistent dosage Metamucil to my life and in turn, see and feel the benefits it can bestow on an active body like my own. Here’s a dose of truth for ya; Metamucil contains a type of fibre called psyllium fibre which has a plethora of health benefits that go way beyond the general usages people are familiar with. In fact, the psyllium fibre in Metamucil is 100% naturally-sourced and helps to lower cholesterol*. Additionally, because this type of fibre essentially soaks up liquid in the body, it can make you feel fuller during the day meals which often prevents over eating.
So this is what I am doing starting today. I am taking a daily dosage of Metamucil in my morning glass of water. I am going to up my intake to three times daily within a few days by adding a serving to my pre-workout shake and my post-workout smoothie. Like all supplements, it’s always a great idea to incorporate them into other creative ways beyond just a scoop in a glass of water. Consistency is key here so I feel like this will help me keep up the challenge and more naturally. For you guys looking to take on the same challenge, remember, increasing your fibre intake is a terrific supplementation to your healthy lifestyle, not a substitute. So keep that diet clean! Keep those training sessions intense and challenging!
